Dataset description

Parts of envelope of ski areas where natural snow is guaranteed, according to different scenarios of global warming. The current area of guaranteed natural snow is defined empirically as “d’#x27;expert” in relation to past and current snow conditions (1980-2010). Its lower limit fluctuates according to the orientations (N, E, SE, S, SO, O). It is fixed for l’' all the massifs of Haute-Savoie (the Haut-Savoyards massifs with a relatively homogeneous character from the meteorological point of view, and therefore logically, from the point of view of nivological) at 1 500 meters d' altitude on the north slope and goes up to 1 800 meters when facing due south. Within the area, snow is “guaranteed”: ski area operators and skiers can count on a sufficient snow cover from mid-December to mid-April with a probability close to 1. This notion of guaranteed natural snow makes it possible to assess the degree of exposure to snow hazards in the ski areas of Haute-Savoie. It was used as part of a reflection on the possible interactions between climate change and the snow resource in winter sports stations. In a forward-looking approach, the DDT74 attempted to assess the future probabilities of snow in Haute-Savoie ski areas by simulating the consequences of global warming on the current area of guaranteed natural snow. These simulations result in a rise of the lower limit of the current zone of 150 meters per degree Celsius. Three warming scenarios have been applied to the current guaranteed snow zone (+ 1 °C, + 2 °C and + 4 °C), to define three new “fictitious” areas of guaranteed natural snow. __Origin__ The perimeter of a prescribed PPR is usually provided in the prefect’s prescription order. The perimeter d' exposure to risks — or regulated perimeter — corresponds to the \#x27; geometric aggregation of l' all the restricted zones listed in the same PPR. The perimeter of the study corresponds to the envelope in which the hazards were studied. __Partner organisations__ DDT Haute-Savoie __Links annexes__ * [XML metadata view](http://ogc.geo-ide.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/csw/all-dataset?REQUEST=GetRecordById&SERVICE=CSW&VERSION=2.0.2&RESULTTYPE=results&elementSetName=full&TYPENAMES=gmd:MD_Metadata&OUTPUTSCHEMA=http://www.isotc211.org/2005/gmd&ID=fr-120066022-jdd-a82cc35c-dd2b-4366-88b5-f335679f33fe) * [COVADIS data standard: Scope of PPRN](http://geostandards.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/afficherPageStandard.do?jeu=N_PERIMETRE_PPRN_AAAANNNN_S) [See this page on geo.data.gouv.fr](https://geo.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/701e3459915e49b27cbce6e6e18a117e333b2ec6)
