Dataset description

The purpose of the Marine Environment Information System (MMIS) is to facilitate the sharing and dissemination of marine data. To this end, it builds on and creates new databases and information systems already organised in this field. SIMM brings together public data actors on the marine environment (state services, public institutions, etc.). In order to meet this objective, the objective of the “Atlas of the Monitoring Sites” tool is to develop an atlas of the sites attached to the monitoring programme (PoS) of the Marine Environment Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD). This version is a demonstrator of what will be the Atlas of the Monitoring Sites, which will allow it beyond the MSFD and this first perimeter to access all monitoring locations of all devices related to marine surveillance and associated metadata. The atlas must perform several functions: Acronym in franaçsi to describe MRU: Marine Reporting Unit — Show the geographical boundaries of Marine Protected Areas according to their category, Marine Sub-Regions and Marine Reporting Units as well as Coastal and Transition Water Masses. — Display information on the monitoring and collection networks/devices of the POS, namely: — Display the surveillance locations and their positions and related general information — Display a summary sheet per network/device with associated metadata where possible — Extract monitoring sites (geo-referenced data) from a monitoring device
