Dataset description

Boundaries of the arrondissements of the Hauts-de-Seine department * * * The departmental district is an administrative district, subdivision of the department; it is subdivided into cantons, themselves subdivided into municipalities. The administration of a district is entrusted to a sub-prefect who assists the prefect of the department in his missions. Unlike regions, departments and municipalities, departmental districts are not the seat of a territorial authority, a legal person governed by public law. They also have no proper name and are designated by the name of the city seat of the sub-prefecture. The Hauts-de-Seine department consists of three districts: Antony, Boulogne-Billancourt and Nanterre. Geometry taken from the data of the IGN and the product ADMIN EXPRESS which describes the administrative division of the metropolitan and ultra-marine territory. Its geometry is that of the CARTO® BD. **Special observations** Until the creation of the Hauts-de-Seine department (Law 64-707 of 10 July 1964, which entered into force on 1 January 1968), the municipalities were divided between the Seine department and the Seine-et-Oise department. here are the key dates for the creation of the arrondissements of the Hauts-de-Seine department: * 1965: creation of the districts of Nanterre, Bobigny and Créteil (Seine, for the formation of Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne, these three districts being created implicitly by the designation of the chiefs of the future departments); * 1966: creation of the districts of Antony (Seine, for the formation of Hauts-de-Seine), Nogent-sur-Marne (Seine, for the formation of Val-de-Marne), Etampes (Seine-et-Oise, for the formation of Essonne) and Argenteuil (Seine-et-Oise, with a view to the formation of the Val-d’Oise); * 1972: creation of the arrondissements of Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine) and L’Haÿ-les-Roses (Val-de-Marne); **Related data** State services in Hauts-de-Seine [hauts-de-seine.gouv.fr](http://www.hauts-de-seine.gouv.fr/Services-de-l-Etat/Prefecture-et-Sous-Prefectures)
