The measuring station is the location on a hydrographic entity (courses of water, lakes, canals...), on which measurements or sampling are made for physico-chemical, microbiological analyses, etc., in order to determine the quality of the aquatic environments at this location. It is a volume in which it is possible to make measurements at different points deemed consistent and representative of the station.
This information is administered by the Water Agencies and the Water Offices and is the responsibility of the owner(s) of the measurement networks or uses to which the station is attached.
