During the health crisis linked to the COVID-19 epidemic, Public Health France is responsible for monitoring and understanding the dynamics of the epidemic, anticipating the various scenarios and implementing actions to prevent and limit the transmission of this virus on the national territory. The data are department-wide on metropolitan France and overseas. The objectives of this surveillance system are to monitor temporal and spatial trends in targeted infectious diseases, to contribute to the investigation of epidemics, and to provide complementary data to existing surveillance systems. As part of the COVID-19 outbreak, data are transmitted daily and include the biological result (performed by PCR), age, gender, and the department of the patient or the taking laboratory. The data are transmitted daily to Santé publique France, with a certain period between the date of collection and the completion of the test.
