Dataset description

Data from the following digital consultation campaign: Let’s Rethink Our Neighborhood Councils The consultation was open on idee.paris from 15 October to 14 November 2018. 123 district councils cover the entire territory of Paris. Spaces for information and dialogue, proposals, initiatives, opinions, district councils are essential players in the democratic vitality of Paris. The 123 district councils in Paris were set up in accordance with the law of 27 February 2002 on local democracy. A deliberation of the Paris Council in July 2002 allowed the creation of the district councils in the 20 arrondissements but it was the mayor of the borough who was in charge of the management and organisation of the district councils. As a result, their mode of operation varies from one arrondissement to another. Paris is a city in which Parisians are committed to developing spaces for debate and action. The City of Paris promotes citizen participation because it is with Parisians that it knows how to innovate to create ever more welcoming neighbourhoods. The valuable work of the district councils participates and is appreciated by the inhabitants. The objective of the online consultation was to identify what works, to further improve the functioning of neighbourhood councils, to circulate good practices, to enrich and multiply their action, to include new citizens engaged in them and to make them better known. More than 15 years after the launch of the first neighborhood councils, it was also an opportunity to understand what worked less well and to provide answers.
