Division of cantons for the March 2015 departmental elections

The IGN posted online on the Geoportal [a geographical representation of the electoral cantons](http://tab.geoportail.fr/?c=5.9619539187622985,43.13180902831085&z=11&l0=GEOGRAPHICALGRIDSYSTEMS.MAPS.SCAN-EXPRESS.STANDARD:WMTS(1) & l1=COMMUNES.CANTONS:WMS(1) & permalink=yes) of the departmental elections of March 22 and 29, 2015. In this dataset in shapefile format in WGS 84 (geographical coordinates) are the cantons which entered into force on the occasion of the departmental elections on 22 and 29 March 2015 in France. The authorities not affected by this election (Paris, Métropole de Lyon, French Guiana, Martinique and overseas authorities) are not covered by this dataset. Each canton is associated with its name, its INSEE code within the department and the INSEE code of its department. **Data genealogy: ** A table indicating for each municipality its canton of affiliation 2015 was established using the data of INSEE and the decrees of 2014 describing the new cantonal division. A crossover with the administrative entities of the CARTO® BD made it possible to establish the cantonal inter-municipal boundaries. As for the intracommunal boundaries of the cantons, they have been entered from the dataset [https://www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/contours-des-cantons-electoraux-departementaux-2015](https://www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/contours-des-cantons-electoraux-departementaux-2015)/. Given the accuracy of the elements that made it possible, it is not recommended to use this dataset on a more precise scale than the 1/25000.
