Dataset description

Species data: The Otter d'Europe is a discrete, solitary and mostly nocturnal aquatic mammal. It occupies vast territories, making it difficult to observe. The otter d'Europe is one of the species on the global red list of IUCN (quasi-threatened). The Otter people various aquatic habitats such as rivers of water, lakes, ponds, marshes, as well as coastal areas. It can travel long distances on foot and it is possible to meet it several kilometers from any point of water. During the 20th century, the Loutre s' was rarefied in France. The primary cause of its decline is road mortality. There are also cases of mortality due to fishing gear and trapping. In addition, pollutants released into aquatic environments (dieldrin, PCBs, Mercury) have an impact on otter health and have contributed to its decline. However, since the 1990s, there have been movements of recolonisation of the territory. This is particularly the case in Languedoc-Roussillon.PNALoutre_R91 Zoning data: This zoning represents the distribution of the otter d'Europe by linear course of water. For this purpose, the “Hydro” table of the IGN Carto BD was used as a repository. It should be noted that this table may present inaccuracies on the positioning of water prices relative to d' other funds (Scan25 or BD Ortho). L' user will have to take this into account and consider the upstream-down limits more than the inward positioning. A buffer of 10 meters radius was applied to each stream of water, in order to obtain the polygons making up the zoning. In addition, the holdings framed by positive prospecting data on the upstream and downstream sections were incorporated into the zoning. The otter being a very discreet mammal and difficult to observe, the raw data used to establish these zonings correspond, in general, to the observation of #x27;preinted or d' footprints. These point data collected between 2012 and 2014 as part of the Loutre NAP were extrapolated according to the ecological characteristics of the rivers upstream, upstream, 5 km from the observation point, and downstream, up to 5 km or up to confluence with a larger stream. These extrapolations have been verified in s' based on the expertise of NAP Loutre actors at departmental and regional level. __Origin__ 08/10/2015: Creation of data __Partner organisations__ DREAL Lang.Rous.
