Dataset description

This Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) is a national inventory: * Chemicals and/or potentially hazardous pollutants released to air, water and soil * Production and treatment of hazardous and non-hazardous waste The basic elements of the constituent are the following: * A list of relevant chemicals, families of chemicals or other pollutants and wastes that are released into the environment or transferred/treated off-site * Annual reports on integrated multi-mium releases and transfers (in air, water and soil) * Reporting by source, covering point and diffuse sources, if appropriate It is a key resource for: * Meet the requirements of the International PRTR Protocol (KIEV, 2003) on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers, as well as the requirements of European Regulation E-PRTR n°166/2006 of 18 January 2006 concerning the creation of a European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (EPPRTR Register — <http://prtr.ec.europa.eu/-> Registry replacing the EPER register) to carry out national summaries on air quality and to justify compliance by France with its international commitments, the implementation of European directives * To feed into the national CO2 register set up for the implementation of the Directive of 13 October 2003 establishing a scheme for greenhouse gas emission allowance trading in the community; help develop regulations to reduce releases of toxic substances and pollutants * Encourage measures to reduce pollutant releases to the environment guide the choice of the various pollution reduction actions undertaken by the inspection of classified installations; improve public understanding.
