Dataset description

Two types of defibrillators exist to deliver external electric shock. Either the device is completely autonomous (fully automatic defibrillator), or it asks the speaker by a visual and/or audible signal to press a button to trigger the shock (semi-automatic defibrillator). Either can be used by the public. Indeed, there are no clinical studies that demonstrate superiority of one of these materials when used by the public. Several program promoters preferred the acquisition of fully automatic defibrillators for “free-service” use and the acquisition of semi-automatics for targeted stakeholders. This choice is based on essentially psychological arguments. Indeed, the use of a fully automatic device removes for the speaker the need and therefore the stress to trigger the shock itself. This stress, which may create doubt in the speaker’s mind, could lead to a delay in the onset of electric shock. Accordingly, the CFRC considers that both these terms and conditions are adapted to the EAD by the public and that the choice is left to the proponents of the program.
