Dataset description

**This dataset includes the contents of the Directory of the Collective Catalogue of France for its part “Libraries”.** ### Description of the Library Directory More than 5,200 French libraries are registered in the CCFr Directory, including: — All municipal libraries in cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants, — All French university libraries (updated thanks to data from the Répertoire des Centres de ressources du Sudoc), — All libraries reporting collections in the CCFr. But the Directory also features libraries and documentation centres of all types and sizes as soon as they request them. Each recording includes both practical and scientific information (address, schedules, access conditions, web address of the catalogue and/or library, services offered, description of collections,...) for users and professionals. ### To learn more On the Directory of Libraries: [https://www.bnf.fr/fr/le-repertoire-de-bibliotheques-du-ccfr](https://www.bnf.fr/fr/le-repertoire-de-bibliotheques-du-ccfr) ### The CPR number Each library is identified by its CPR number (9 characters), assigned by the Higher Education Bibliographic Agency (ABES) and composed as follows: — the first two numbers correspond to the number of the department, — the following three numbers correspond to the INSEE code of the municipality, — the following two numbers correspond to the type of library, — the last two form a sequential number. The RCR number is widely used within the CCFr, for the localisation of the holdings or documents described in the Heritage Base, in the General Catalogue of Manuscripts (CGM) or in the Directory of French Literary Manuscripts of the 20th Century (Palme).
