List of maternity centres in France since 2000

The list of maternity units in France lists all maternity units in France as at 31 December 2000 and from 2008 to 2020, their address, number of beds and activity (number of deliveries). An institution is included in the list for a given year if it has at least one bed and one type (1, 2a, 2b or 3) on December 31 of that year and has performed at least one delivery in the year. A type 1 institution is referred to as type 1 if it has a type 2a obstetric service if it also has a neonatal service on the same site as the obstetric service, type 2b if it also has a neonatal intensive care service and type 3 if it has, on the same site as the obstetric service, the three previous services (obstetrics, neonatal neonatal care) and neonatal resuscitation. This file should not be used to count the number of deliveries in a given year. Maternity wards that close in a year and have no bed by 31 December of that year are not included. These data are produced from the statistical bases of the [Annual Statistics of Health Institutions (CAS)](https://drees.solidarites-sante.gouv.fr/sources-outils-et-enquetes/00-la-statistique-annuelle-des-etablissements-sae) restated by DREES. This DREES survey describes annually the activity of public and private health facilities (number of stays and days of hospitalisation) and their associated factors of production (beds, places, equipment, staff).
