Dataset description

The purpose of this dataset is: 1. Extract the list of locations of the 1,424 cameras as described in the [Official Bulletin of the City of Paris of 1 February 2019](https://www.api-site.paris.fr/paris/public/2019%2F1%2F2019_02_01_BOVP_009.pdf) 2. To make this list available according to the principles of Open Data (open license, standard data format) 3. To geotagger these locations in order to view them on a map (in progress, 707 of 1424, [see map](http://umap.openstreetmap.fr/fr/map/cameras-de-videos-de-surveillance-installees-par-l_333025)) There are actually two lists of locations: — Annex 1 (1 391 pitches): the Video Protection Plan for the Police Prefecture — Annex 2 (890 locations): the video protection plan for Paris, list of cameras visible by authorised agents of the City of Paris These two lists have many locations in common. NextInpact summarised the situation in [this article](https://www.nextinpact.com/brief/-a-paris--1-400-implantations-de-cameras-de-surveillance-autorisees-par-arrete-8706.htm). The source code is available here: https://github.com/ColinMaudry/geo-videoprotection-paris ## Modus operandi 1. Convert PDF to MS Excel file using online tool [PDFtables.com](http://pdftables.com) 2. Cleaning non-data text in LibreOffice 3. Reconstruction of lines manually in LibreOffice for Annex 1 (some lines were cut in half, spaces were missing) 4. Quasi-complete automatic reconstruction of the ‘Implantation’ column of Annex 2 through — in column ‘Implantation’ cleaned from Annex 1 — in columns ‘Number’ of Annexes 1 and 2 — to the function [‘VLOOKUP’](https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/How_Tos/Calc:_VLOOKUP_function) of LibreOffice 5. Manual filling of the few missing rows in Appendix 2 using the number column and the source PDF 6. Export in CSV format, UTF-8 encoding, column separated by semicolons (;).
