The museum collections of the Maison de Chateaubriand * * * Chateaubriand’s house is endowed with an important museum collection bringing together paintings, engravings, sculptures, art objects evoking the life, work and era of Chateaubriand. The writer’s figures are numerous, often inspired by the famous portrait painted by Anne-Louis Girodet-Trioson and whose modello was acquired by the Hauts-de-Seine Department in 2015. Others illustrate the stories of the writer or show him at different ages of his life, or caricature him. These representations testify to the notoriety of politicians and writers throughout the 19th century.
