Dataset description

Biogas is a combustible gas, a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide, produced by anaerobic fermentation (in the absence of oxygen) of organic matter. The production process is called methanisation. This methanisation can be: Fatal when produced in landfills, anthills, rice fields... Directed, when it takes place in fermenters or digesters, which correspond to heated and agitated pits in which biogas production takes place. Methanisation has multiple interests in relation to greenhouse gas emission reductions: It makes it possible to collect methane which is a particularly harmful greenhouse gas (1 kg of methane is 21 times more harmful to the greenhouse effect than 1 kg of carbon dioxide) and not to discharge it into the atmosphere Biogas is a renewable energy, its energy recovery makes it possible to substitute fossil fuels that would have been consumed in its place Digestate (fermentation residue) can replace the use of some chemical fertilisers __Origin__ SORTING CRITERIA: Renewable Thermal Energy Investment Projects Projects supported since 2009 (date of launch of the Chaleur Fund) Validated grants Does not concern: Abandoned projects Feasibility studies or project management assistance (AMO) Facilities at home __Partner organisations__ DREAL Pays de la Loire, ADEME [See this page on geo.data.gouv.fr](https://geo.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/72f3a8dfedbcff9d1beddc6e52decc3f77a1c24a)
