Dataset description

The MicroTic2D survey collects information on information and communication technology equipment for educational purposes in public colleges and high schools. The survey was conducted for the first time by the Evaluation, Foresight and Performance Directorate in the first half of 2021, directly with public institutions. The investigation was renewed in the first half of 2022. The open data file of the survey gathers responses from respondent institutions for these two years of collection. The topic of ICT was previously covered by the ETIC survey, whose data are also available in open data (last data in 2019). The individual data of an institution can be recorded directly in the file, to the desired year (2021 or 2022). The institutions’ responses correspond to their situation at the time they completed the questionnaire. The level of equipment can vary quickly as a result of a new delivery of equipment. In addition, some responses correspond more to an order of magnitude than to a precise counting, particularly for the counting of equipment less than 5 years old. An annual weighting was calculated for each responding institution to correct the non-response and to provide the most accurate indicators possible. This weighting was calculated in such a way that the respondent institutions represented all establishments in France in terms of characteristics and geographical distribution for a given year. Each responding institution thus has a coefficient each year (the variable “fine weight”). The use of these coefficients makes it possible to estimate aggregated data for a given year and for all public colleges and high schools, or for a subpart of this set (a given type of institution, an academy, etc.). The indicators published by the Depp are calculated from this file using weights (e.g. in the publications “RERS” and “State of the School”). The file of this survey is available on data.education.gouv.fr **Field:** The MicroTic2D survey focuses on ICT equipment in public colleges and high schools in France. **Equipment accounted for:** The material recorded is material for educational use, i.e. which can be used by pupils and/or teachers and in working order. In addition, schools were asked to include in their counting computer equipment provided directly to individual students by a community. Material shared with another school is also accounted for in its own right (e.g. school in school). **Treatments:** The raw data collected are subject to controls and adjustments by the Directorate for Evaluation, Foresight and Performance (Depp). The statistical files made available on data.education.gouv.fr are the result of these clearance operations. In the file made available, each line corresponds to an institution’s response. In some infrequent cases, some institutions did not answer all the questions (e.g. on equipment under 5 years of age): in this case the cell concerned in the file is left empty.
