Dataset description

Catalogue of monographs preserved by the Social History Library La Souvarine * * * La Souvarine is home to documentary collections in political and social history in France and abroad: communism, socialism and trade unionism. This collection consists of more than 40,000 books, more than 1,000 titles of periodicals, pamphlets, archives and manuscripts bequeathed by activists and historians. These collections represent an exceptional testimony to more than a century of political, trade union and social struggles that agitated the 20th century. The data are extracted from the computerised catalogue of the Souvarine and form two bases: one concerns the periodicals of the library; the other provides information on books, brochures and theses. The bases indicate the following: author, title, place and year of edition or publication, publisher, indexation, type of document,... La Souvarine’s catalogue is still being enriched by new acquisitions or retroconversions. **Special observations** A retraining project is currently underway. This dataset is therefore not an exhaustive inventory of the collection. It contains only documents that have already been rewritten and will be enriched each year.
