SHOM, a public institution of reference for hydrography and marine sediments, has been subsidised by the State Representation in the Brittany Region (SGAR) to acquire initial knowledge of the physical marine environment on the Fromveur hydro turbine pilot farm area and on the planned route of the energy transmission cable.
The data currently available are:
— a numerical model of high-resolution bathymetric terrain limited to the area of the hydro turbine farm;
— a large-scale map of the nature of surface sediments;
— a current product of 3D tides consisting of four layers, at a time step of a quarter of an hour (data from a current profiler located in the area is also provided).
The addition of the data will be made available within a period of between one and three months, depending on the weather. Subsequent deliverables consist of:
— a large-scale map of the thickness of the surface sediments of the hydro turbine farm area;
— a digital high-resolution bathymetric terrain model on the underwater cable route;
— sedimentology data relating to the track of the submarine cable: nature and thickness of surface sediments.
