Dataset description

This dataset contains the protection zones around sites registered for the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. ATTENTION: this dataset is not complete on the Nouvelle-Aquitaine perimeter, it concerns the former Aquitaine region. The protection zones were established by Title III of the Law of 2 May 1930 in Articles 17 to 20, thus enabling the protection of sectors “around natural monuments and listed sites”. Article 20 stipulated that “all projects of major works of whatever nature; they are, all or part of this area, must be submitted for opinion to the Minister responsible for Cultural Affairs”. Protection zones usually include several sectors. General and special easements are applicable and are specified by a regulation annexed to the ministerial decree. Today, the articles relating to protection zones have been repealed by the Act of 7 January 1983 (Article 72) establishing the UPAZ. However, the same law stipulates that zones continue to produce their effects until they are removed or transformed into ZPPAUP. According to the wording of the protection zone, the applications for work filed under the code of the protection zone; urban planning located within its perimeter, follow the same procedure as that of the classified sites. The special authorisation for works may be issued by the Minister responsible for sites, after consulting the departmental site commission, the DREAL and the architect of the buildings of France for works which do not affect the integrity of the site. GIS data are provided for informational purposes and have no regulatory value. __Origin__ This JDD was created on the perimeter of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region during the heritage harmonisation project in July 2016.
