Dataset description

The continuation rates allow to measure the share of bachelor’s degree students in a course pursuing studies at the next school year in French higher education. This therefore does not take into account the taking of deferred studies or resuming studies (after a period of inactivity or professional activity, etc.), arrivals into higher education with a diploma equivalent to the baccalaureate, or arrivals in higher education from abroad or from the COMs. The rate of continuation of neo-bacheliers in higher education is defined as the ratio between the number of bachelor’s degree students in higher education at the beginning of the year and the total number of bachelor’s degree students in the N session. This indicator can be declined by academies, major series of the bachelor’s degree, gender, for each course of training in higher education and the sector of the training institution. In order to calculate prosecution rates consistent with the distributions of the sub-Directorate of Information Systems and Statistical Studies (SIES) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, it is necessary to sum the neo-bacheliers pursuing in the selected training courses and sectors of establishment, according to the desired granularity (sum by year, bachelor’s academies, major series of the baccalaureate, gender). Bachelors must be summed in accordance with the same granularity as that used for neo-bacheliers pursuing to ensure the consistency of the indicator. It is enough to divide the first sum by the second.
