Dataset description

# Regional archives Pays de la Loire — Regional Councillors of the Pays de la Loire from 1974 to 1986 This list corresponds to the first period of existence of the regional assembly, prior to the first election of regional councillors by universal suffrage (March 1986). Previously, three colleges, composed of local elected officials, were responsible for their designation, as the Act on the Establishment and Organisation of Regions of July 1972 provided for: \- College of Deputies and Senators representing 50 % of the Regional Council; \- College of elected representatives of local authorities: departments and municipalities with a population of more than 30 000; \- College of Elect of Urban Communities. The list was drawn up by the Regional Archives on the basis of the collections of administrative acts tracing the activities of the assembly and kept in its holdings. It shall include the following information: surname and first name, department, years of presence at the Regional Council, and possible function within the “office” or “permanent committee” of the Regional Council. See also the dataset “Regional Councillors of the Pays de la Loire from 1986 to 2010” which covers the subsequent period (direct universal suffrage election).
