Regional Natural Parks of the Southern Region

The Southern Region has exceptional and unique natural environments in France. This biodiversity is honoured thanks to the 9 Regional Natural Parks: La Camargue, Alpilles, Luberon, Baronnies Provençales, Verdon, PréAlpes d’Azur, Queyras, Sainte-Baume and Mont-Ventoux created in 2020. The 9 Parks of the Sud-Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region have been grouped since 2015 within an association for the development of joint actions: the [Network of Regional Natural Parks of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur](https://trouver.datasud.fr/organization/parcs-naturels-regionaux-de-provence-alpes-cote-dazur) These regional natural parks concern 890,000 hectares, 266 municipalities, 388,000 inhabitants and attract two million tourists a year. The regional climate plan has made Regional Natural Parks key players in biodiversity conservation, firefighting and environmental education. The 5 Parks Missions: * Protection and management of natural and cultural heritage with an incentive to save energy and promote local heritage and know-how * Spatial planning by promoting environmentally friendly projects * Development of economic and social activities such as short circuits, sustainable agriculture, tourism... * Welcome, education and public information through environmental awareness * Experimentation and innovation through research programmes
