The Palme Base reports more than 120,000 documents held in 430 institutions as diverse as municipal libraries, archives, but also museums and public or private research centres.
The notices are succinct and are mainly intended to indicate all the handwritten documents author by author.
The Palme base was retroconverted to EAD from records from the old Opaline catalogue of the BnF. The notices concerning higher education were given to him.
Ultimately, this database is intended to merge with the General Catalogue of Manuscripts (CGM), which it partially overlaps.
Palme is presented in the form of two archive files:
— a file for public library data, containing 408 EAD XML inventories and the corresponding DTD (3.09 MB compressed/76.6 MB uncompressed),
— a file for BnF data, containing 14 EAD XML inventories and the corresponding DTD (1.35 MB compressed/35.5 MB uncompressed).
Each file is named as follows:
— A prefix: palm,
— The CPR number of the conservation institution, consisting of 9 digits (the first 2 digits correspond to the number of the department, the following 3 to the INSEE code of the municipality in which the equipment is located, the following 2 to the type of library, and the last 2 to the sequential number),
— a supplement when an institution’s inventory is separated into several files.
The CCFr Directory allows you to find a CPR number or the corresponding establishment.
