Ce jeu de données donne l'évolution des réserves mondiales de gaz naturel (conventionnel et non conventionnel) Le ratio Réserves sur Production (R/P) représente, en années, la disponibilité d’une ressource non renouvelable dans les conditions technico-économiques actuelles. Les réserves estimées englobent les gisements de gaz naturel non conventionnel (voir Glossaire), mais également des gisements de gaz naturel conventionnel inexploitables aujourd’hui avec les technologies existantes.
