Risk forest fires on the territory of the Massif des Maures in the Var

The Risk Prevention Plans (RPPs) were established by the Law of 2 February 1995 on the strengthening of environmental protection. In 2003, serious fires took place on the Var department leading the state to prescribe 17 PPR Forest Fires, 8 of which were on the Maures massif. The methodology used follows the recommendations of the methodological guide developed in 2002. Wildfire hazard is defined as the probability that a forest fire of a given intensity will occur in a place. The constituent parameters of the hazard are: the nature of the fuels, the slope, the sunshine and the wind. The data were created on the basis of an EDR 25 topographic background dating back to 2002. The hazard map was created by a calculation of the intensity of fire at any point in the territory.
