Dataset description

SF6 is a synthetic gas used by the electrical industry as insulating, especially in metal-enveloped substations (PSEM), as it allows for great compactness, as well as in aerial circuit breakers. Powerful greenhouse gases, its warming power is 23500 times that of CO2. Releases of SF6 may be due to accidental leaks on equipment, aging of installations, maintenance operations or the removal of end-of-life equipment. This dataset presents the annual data since 2014 of releases of SF6 in tonnes and CO2 equivalent by type of discharge (material damage, circuit breakers in operation, PSEM in operation, maintenance interventions).
