Dataset description

Under the 1993 “landscapes” law, “On territories remarkable for their landscape interest, defined in consultation with the local authorities concerned and where those territories are not the subject of special provisions adopted pursuant to Article L. 111-1-1 of the Urban Planning Code, the State may adopt guidelines for the protection and enhancement of landscapes.” The directive lays down guidelines, principles of protection that are now applicable to urban planning documents (P.L.U, S.C.O.T). In France two landscape directives have been decreed. They concern the Alpilles (Bouches-du-Rhône) and Mont Salève (Haute-Savoie).
