Dataset description

Point location of the transversal boundary of the sea (TML) essentially the maritime public domain (downstream) of the public river domain (if the watercourse considered is federal) or the private domain of the residents (upstream). __Origin__ The European Directive 2002/49/EC on the assessment and management of noise in the environment aims, by means of strategic noise maps, to assess the exposure to noise in all 27 Member States in a harmonised manner. Its objective is to prevent and reduce the effects of noise. It was transposed into French law by order, ratified by the law of 26 October 2005, and is now included in the Environmental Code. What is strategic noise mapping? It allows a representation of noise levels, but also to count the exposed population, quantify nuisances, draw up action plans (preservation of quiet areas). This mapping has an informative character. Noise maps are developed for large infrastructure and large agglomerations. They concern roadways used by more than 6 million vehicles per year and railways with more than 60,000 train crossings per year. Large agglomerations are those in the INSEE sense of more than 250,000 inhabitants. Principle for the development of strategic noise maps The noise maps are drawn up, with the harmonised indicators Lden (for the day) and Ln (for the night). Noise levels are evaluated using numerical models incorporating the main parameters that influence noise and its propagation. The noise maps thus produced represent: areas exposed to more than 55 decibels in Lden (day) areas exposed to more than 50 decibels in Ln (night) They represent the isophone curves of 5 in 5 decibels. Limit values exceedance map These are maps representing areas where the limit values in Lden (day) and Ln (night) are exceeded (Article R 572-5 of the Environmental Code). __Partner organisations__ DDTM Vendée __Links annexes__ * [XML metadata view](http://ogc.geo-ide.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/csw/all-dataset?REQUEST=GetRecordById&SERVICE=CSW&VERSION=2.0.2&RESULTTYPE=results&elementSetName=full&TYPENAMES=gmd:MD_Metadata&OUTPUTSCHEMA=http://www.isotc211.org/2005/gmd&ID=fr-120066022-jdd-5e7c2846-7edb-4123-b0b4-14bbfd9405ac) [See this page on geo.data.gouv.fr](https://geo.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/dcc916072870657c6660da37a2c26e34e625804b)
