Strong villagers of Clermont Auvergne Métropole

List of the strong villagers of Clermont Auvergne Métropole characterised by a specific medieval urbanism of the town centres. In 14 communes of Clermont Auvergne Métropole, it is possible to identify traces of the strong villagers, defensive systems distinct from the seigneurial castles. Built by the inhabitants themselves, these forts, organised around a church, tower or castle, and equipped with a defensive system, were intended to ensure collective security. Most of the villagers were built at the time of the Hundred Years War (14th and 15th centuries). This document reveals the route of the strong villagers in the town centres with the aim of bringing to the knowledge of all this unknown urbanism.
