Technical and scientific police

The Technical and Scientific Police (TSP) plays a central role in carrying out the tasks of the investigation services, but its organisation is singularly complex. Most of its expenditure is borne by the budgets of the national police and gendarmerie, which act side by side without seeking to develop real synergies. The importance of the PTS in revealing the truth, combating crime and international cooperation justifies a deep effort to rationalise and pool its resources, for the time being dispersed, in particular by a significant reduction in the number of technical platforms of the police and gendarmerie. It seems necessary to renovate its governance, clarify its organisation, harmonise its methods and improve its performance. The Court makes ten recommendations, with the aim of creating in the medium term a joint PTS management of the national police and gendarmerie.
