Dataset description

Temporary employment statistics are based on the “Monthly Mission Report” source of temporary work enterprises (TTEs). The Act of February 1994 requires temporary work establishments to send each month to Pôle emploi a monthly statement of the missions in progress during the previous month. Thus Pôle emploi centralises all RMM receptions and integrates, after having carried out the quality and completeness checks, all the information relating to temporary assignments. Information is disseminated to the Regional Directorates of Enterprises, Competition, Consumer Affairs, Labour and Employment (DIRECCTE) and the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Vocational Training and Social Dialogue (Direction de l’Animation de la Recherche, des Etudes et des Statistics: DARES). **The concepts of acting employment** The number of temporary workers is calculated using the end-of-month indicator. The series is obtained from the level of the annual temporary employment statistics as at 31.12.1995 to which the monthly rates of change of the indicator are applied. Due to the high daily variability, the end-of-month indicator is constructed based on the average of the last five “relevant” working days of the month, not just the last working day of the month. At the beginning of month M+ 2 are known the provisional indicators of month M and corrected for month M-1. **Convergence of temporary employment statistics published by Pôleemploi and Dares** Until the statistics for December 2014, Pôleemploi and Dares published different changes in temporary employment, due to slightly different salaries from the same source, the monthly mission statements of temporary work agencies. The joint methodological work has led to the convergence of these treatments and, from the publication of the January 2015 publication, identical statistics on the evolution of temporary employment. As a result of this work, Pôleemploi has revised its interim employment series since January 2013 as of March 2015 (statistics relating to January 2015). Employment pole publishes a total number of temporary workers, while Dares publishes a number of temporary employees in primary employment. Given this difference in concepts, the series published by Pôle emploi and the Dares remain different in level.
