Dataset description

Punctual road counts showing the number of motorised vehicles circulating in both directions on roads, as well as the speeds applied. These counts are referred to as TMJA (annual average daily total). For each count are indicated: the value of the count (digital value expressing a flow rate), the location (odometer point — PR), the date (day and year), the period of counting, the type of measurement carried out: number of vehicles per day. The V85 is also indicated: speed below which 85 % of light vehicles (LV) operate, free (not constrained by other vehicles). **Collection context** Since 2002, the Department of Calvados has operated a Geographic Information System (GIS) with a road component and regularly produces data that is spatialised in the Road Geographic Information System (SIGR). As part of its management tasks, maintenance of the road network and its police powers to regulate traffic on departmental roads outside urban areas, the Calvados Department is planning annual metering campaigns on its departmental road network with the aim of covering the entire department in five years. The counts allow the Department to define the traffic class of a road — an indicator for calculating the size of a pavement when developing the maintenance programme — the type of road improvements, as well as its road safety policy. **Collection method** The data collected by road meters are imported into the Calvados Road Geographic Information System (SIGR) which generates a vector layer of geolocated points from the PR (odometer point) where the meter is located. **Attributes** | Champ | Alias | Type | | — | — | | — | | ‘objectid’ | ‘int4,PrimaryKey’ | | ‘axis’ | Route | ‘varchar’ | | ‘cumuld’ | Metric Cumulus Start Route | ‘numeric’ | | ‘plod’ | PR section start | ‘varchar’ | | ‘ABSD’ | Abscisse Beginning | ‘numeric’ | | ‘counting1’ | Sense 1 Counting | ‘numeric’ | | ‘nbvl1’ | Nb VL Sense 1 | ‘numeric’ | | ‘nbpl1’ | Nb PL Sense 1 | ‘numeric’ | | ‘pourcpl1’ | Percent PL sense 1 | ‘numeric’ | | ‘counting2’ | Sense 2 Counting | ‘numeric’ | | ‘nbvl2’ | Nb VL Sense 2 | ‘numeric’ | | ‘nbpl2’ | Nb PL Sense 2 | ‘numeric’ | | ‘pourcpl2’ | Percent PL Sense 2 | ‘numeric’ | | ‘totcount’ | Total counts (PL+VL) | ‘numeric’ | | ‘totvl’ | Total VL (sens1+sens2) | ‘numeric’ | | ‘totpl’ | Total PL (sens1+sens2) | ‘numeric’ | | ‘totpourcpl’ | Total percentage PL | ‘numeric’ | | ‘datecomp2’ | ‘varchar’ | ‘datecomp2’ | ‘year’ | ‘varchar’ | | ‘months’ | ‘numeric’ | | ‘dateterrain’ | Period | ‘varchar’ | | ‘origin’ | ‘varchar’ | | ‘pr’ | Reference point | ‘varchar’ | | ‘datecomp’ | Date counting | ‘varchar’ | | ‘vm1’ | Average speed (sens 1) | ‘numeric’ | | ‘v85_1’ | V85 (sens 1) | ‘numeric’ | | ‘vm2’ | Average speed (sens 2) | ‘numeric’ | | ‘v85_2’ | V85 (sens 2) | ‘numeric’ | | ‘classe_trafic_result’ | ‘numeric’ | | ‘traffic_class’ | ‘varchar’ | For more information, see [the metadata on the Isogeo catalog](https://open.isogeo.com/s/434296189d794266a04a8678e256f0c4/HiLeps3y1qrSx6aTDmKyp0spGPix0/r/7d1956a6c5394f13ad7fa6675a996631).
