Dataset description

**Set of geographical data showing recently felled trees for safety reasons.** The reason for this decision (pathology, mechanical defect, etc.) and the essence of the tree to be replaced is specified for each tree. This dataset only takes into account trees slaughtered for health reasons until they are replanted or up to 6 months after they are slaughtered. The data was built from the monitoring tours carried out since spring 2021. * * * A tree must be cut when it presents a risk of falling or contamination of other trees. Before it is slaughtered, it is fully diagnosed by forestry agents. Less than 1.5 % of trees must be felled and renewed each year. In addition to human causes (e.g., traffic shocks, spills of polluting substances at the foot of the tree, etc.), trees may die down due to drought or succumb to parasites, diseases, insects or lignivor fungi. Wounds caused by shocks or large sizes can become points of weakness; lignivore fungi propagate rot to the roots, trunk, or even branches and degrade the mechanical resistance of the tree. Frequently, sick and fragile trees appear to be healthy in appearance. Symptoms of decline are not always observed from the outside as sap circulates around the periphery of the trunk and leaves can remain green. Some root rots can also weaken the tree at its base without visible external signs.
