Dataset description

Preventive archaeology consists of detecting and safeguarding elements of the archaeological heritage affected or likely to be affected and destroyed by the works of #x27; public or private developments. Archaeological remains are relatively well protected as long as they remain buried in the ground and for the vast majority of them; between them, there is no information, either by texts, ancient or recent iconography (maps, planes, aerial photographs, etc.). The arrangements concerned by preventive archaeology These are constructions or works, the location of which is located on an area known for its archaeological sensitivity; — concerted development areas (zac) and subdivisions with an area of more than 3 hectares — works subject to declaration or authorisation under the Urban Planning Code — fitting-outs and works subject to impact assessment (roads, waste, quarries, etc.) — works on buildings classified as historical monuments. The regional prefect — by delegation from the Regional Archaeology Service (SRA) within the Regional Directorates for Cultural Affairs (DRAC) — may issue a diagnostic prescription outside these areas if he has information indicating that a project is likely to affect elements of the archaeological heritage. Diagnostic prescription is not systematic. __Origin__ Graphical document annexed to the Decree defining the geographical areas with regard to preventive archaeology (Law amended of 17 January 2001). produced on IGN cartographic collections by the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Regional Department of Archaeology. __Partner organisations__ Grand Poitiers, Grand Poitiers — Direction Urbanisme et Mixité Social [See this page on geo.data.gouv.fr](https://geo.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/3c41bc75a9165d41e6303a17b06c4e8264a92d85)
