Aboveground catchment areas — main catchment areas

The national GIS database provided here includes the main above-ground catchment areas of the Saxon water network. These are mainly determined on the basis of orographically determined water sheaths. Further information is being consulted in anthropogenic catchment areas. The data base of the above-ground river basins is based on the information provided by the TK10 (status 1995) and is continuously qualified and supplemented on the basis of the Saxon water network, DGM2 and on-the-spot checks. The main river basins in Saxony of Elbe, Schwarzer Elster, Mulde, Weißer Elster, Spree and Lausitzer Neiße are formed from the sub-category areas. The data are consistent with the LfULG’s watercourse register and the GIS data of flowing and standing waters. Coordination with the neighbouring federal states as well as with the Czech Republic and the Republic of Poland takes place at the national borders.
