Air capacity of the ground (VBK50)

The air capacity of the floor up to 100 cm tread depth is the pore space that is provided with air at field capacity with a defined suction voltage of pF > 1,8. It is a measure of oxygen supply to the plant roots. The classification is based on KA5, p. 349, Table 74. For soils with a skeleton or solid rock at a lower depth, the information refers to the depth of the purée. Classification: very low < 2 % by volume low 2 to < 5 % by volume mean 5 to < 13 % by volume high 13 to < 26 % vol. very high > = 26 % vol.
