Dataset description

Das Stadtgebiet Braunschweigs, an der Grenze zwischen Norddeutschem Tiefland und dem Hügelland gelegen, zeichnet sich durch eine besonders hohe Artenvielfalt aus. Mit mehr als 700 Tier- und 1300 Pflanzenarten hat Braunschweig die höchste Artenvielfalt in Niedersachsen. Aufgrund der Neuausweisung von Schutzgebieten im europäischen Netzwerk Natura 2000, Änderungen des Artenschutzrechtes aufgrund der FFH-Richtlinie und der EU-Vogelschutzrichtlinie im Bundesnaturschutzgesetz und einem aufzustellenden Biotopverbund wurde ein Artenschutzkonzept erarbeitet.
