Dataset description

The map shows the potential wind erosion hazard in the 12.5 m grid. The assessment of the potential risk of wind erosion is based on Annex 3 of the Agricultural Payments Obligations Ordinance (AgrarPayVerpflV) by linking (a) soil type (as a measure of the susceptibility to erosion or erodibility of a soil type), (B) wind speed (as a measure of climate erosivity) and (C) Wind hazards (protective effect of wind hazards). The basis for this approach is the existing set of rules (DIN 19706 soil condition — determination of the risk of erosion of soils by wind). The state area of Lower Saxony is divided into a 12.5 m grid and an erosion hazard level for each grid cell is determined according to the methodology described above.
