The assessment of the potential risk of wind erosion is based on Annex 3 of the Agricultural Payments Obligations Ordinance (AgrarPayVerpflV) by linking
(a) soil type (as a measure of the susceptibility to erosion or erodibility of a soil type),
(B) wind speed (as a measure of climate erosivity) and
(C) Wind hazards (protective effect of wind hazards).
The basis for this approach is the existing set of rules (DIN 19706 soil condition — determination of the risk of erosion of soils by wind).
The state area of Lower Saxony is divided into a 12.5 m grid and an erosion hazard level for each grid cell is determined according to the methodology described above.
