Dataset description

A calculation limit marks the area from which the calculation of the flood hazard areas for the water shown ends, because a further calculation is no longer technically useful. This occurs mainly in areas of estuaries, or when a body of water in extreme floods overflows a dike and spreads over several kilometers into a very shallow plain. In addition, a calculation limit indicates the beginning of a water for which hazard and risk maps have been drawn up. The fact that no hazard areas are shown behind calculation limits does not mean that there is no flood risk there. If the adjacent water is a risk water (waters with special flood risk), the flood risk areas are shown in a separate map. In the case of non-risk waters, concerns may nevertheless exist but have not met the criteria of significance for the definition of risk waters.
