Dataset description

When implementing the Fertiliser Ordinance (DÜV) and the Land Fertiliser Ordinance of Rhineland-Palatinate, the groundwater bodies designated in accordance with the EU Water Framework Directive (WRRL) are, in addition to nitrate concentrations at groundwater measuring points, the basis for the designation of so-called “red” or nitrate-loaded areas. Agricultural practice pays great attention to the underlying expulsion measurement network. With the amendment of the Federal Government’s General Administrative Regulation on the designation of nitrate polluted and eutrophicated areas of August 2022, the Fertiliser Ordinance as amended in April 2020 and the revision of the Land Fertiliser Ordinance in autumn 2022, the classification of contaminated areas from 2023 will be based on other criteria, namely, instead of a small-scale differentiated calculation of nitrate discharges in conjunction with site-specific compatibility for nitrate entries only on the basis of nitrate concentrations of the 341 groundwater measuring stations of the identification network in Rhineland-Palatinate (as at the end of 2021). The designation must be made on the basis of the nationwide requirements irrespective of the land use. All parcels, e.g. field paths with at least 20 % of their area in calculated areas, are fully included. That’s why the vent moves at the edge of the contaminated areas.:Phosphate-loaded areas
