Cultivation of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in Brandenburg

The data contain the areas in Brandenburg where no genetically modified maize may be grown. They only serve as an overview and have no legal liability. In order to request legally binding information, information from the applicant may be required on a case-by-case basis. The cultivation areas of GMOs are recorded in a Financial Population Register by the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) as a descriptive database. This database does not currently allow a visualisation of the cultivation areas via a GIS. The Federal State of Brandenburg intends to make this data available to citizens within the framework of the obligations of, inter alia, the Environmental Information Act (UIG). In addition, an evaluable geographical base of data is to be created, which prepares e.g. for impact assessments (e.g. environmental impact assessments) on protected areas of the European Protected Area System Natura 2000.
