The 1:400,000 scale map provides information on the distribution and socialisation of the guiding and accompanying soils of Thuringia, the types of soil, the weathering and cover substrates and the dominating base rocks. These different soil regions are assigned according to the spatial-geographical equipment, which in turn are divided into relatively uniform spaces, the six soil landscapes of Thuringia, in terms of their morphological structures as well as their landscape and soil genesis. For example, this map work served as the basis for the creation of geochemical maps.
