Dataset description

The map of earthquake zones and geological underground classes for Rhineland-Palatinate refers to DIN 4149:2005-04 Load assumptions, design and design;hrung &uuml;bliche Hochbauten" published by the DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V., Burggrafenstr. 6, D-10787 Berlin. Non-tectonic seismic events are not the subject of this presentation (DIN 4149:2005-04, Chapter 5.1). The earthquake zones are assigned Intensitätsintervals according to the Europäic macroseismic scale (EMS) and rated values of ground acceleration a<sub>g</sub>. The underlying reference recurrence period corresponds to a probability of occurrence or failure of 10 % within 50 years.
