Dataset description

Both the settlement and the survival of bivalve molluscs are linked to various factors, known as environmental parameters, which prevent the survival of bivalve molluscs outside certain limits, while promoting a habitat within the borders. Overall, there are only vague to no figures in the literature regarding any influencing influencing factors, especially in terms of their orders of magnitude. In order to be able to assign individual potentials to the various environmental parameters in the form of numerical values between zero and one, based on the determined minimum, maximum and median values, affiliation functions (combination of sin and cos functions as well as exponential functions) are created. These affiliation functions can be used to identify individual potentials for each value of an environmental parameter, which are combined by the use of the geometric mean into an overall potential for each point within the area of study and valid for the study year. This creates a potential map for shellfish socialisations, in which the value read is to be understood as a characteristic for favourable/unfavorable overall environmental conditions.
