Dataset description

Motivation: The calculation and graphical representation of the tidal characteristics of the water level contributes significantly to quantifying and better understanding some aspects of the tidal dynamics of northern German coastal waters and estuaries. Thus, the basic tide parameters of tide flood, tide low water and the closely related values for tide rise, tidefall and tidehub help to work out the dynamics of the tides. This varies from place to place depending on whether dissipative processes or strengthening effects dominate. The tidal water is subject to minor changes than the previous quantities. Nevertheless, it can be expressed in connection with the overwater drain, wind congestion or nonlinear interaction. A detailed description of the analysis modes can be found in BAWiki (http://wiki.baw.de/de/index.php/Tidekennwerte_des_Wasserstandes). Metadata: This metadata record is considered as a parent record for the specified met data sets: — EasyGSH-DB_TDKW: Quantiles of Tide Flood (1996-2015) — EasyGSH-DB_TDKW: Quantiles of Tide Low Water (1996-2015) — EasyGSH-DB_TDKW: Quantiles of the Tidehub (1996-2015) — EasyGSH-DB_TDKW: medium tidal water (1996-2015) — EasyGSH-DB_TDKW: Flooding time (1996-2015) — EasyGSH-DB_TDKW: Number of tide events (1996-2015) Resolution: The tide characteristics of the water level are provided for the Exclusive Economic Zone in the 1 000 m grid and the German Bay in a 100 m grid.
