Dataset description

The annual zip archive files contain the spectral sea gang parameters derived from SWAN from the seagoing spectra (significant wave height Hm0, mean wave start direction m, directional scattering, mean wave period Tm02, spectral period Tm-1,0 and peak period Tp) at selected locations along the seaside edge of the product area (DB-Rand). An archive contains the spectral seagoing parameters as a time series over a period of one year and with a time interval of one hour. The time series of the seagoing parameters (significant wave height, mean wave start direction, direction scattering, mean and spectral wave period and peak period) are stored in subdirectories (“wave_height”, “wave_mean_direction”, “wave_spread”, “wave_mean_period_two”, “wave_mean_period”, “wave_mean_period”). Each archive also contains a file (positions.csv) with information on the location of the selected locations along the edge (position reference WGS84). Missing values in the time series are marked with -999 (error value). A spectral seagoing model based on SWAN and assuming a spatially and temporally constant mean water level (NHN+ 0 m) and without considering currents was created. The time simulation and output interval is one hour. The model expansion and discretisation (unstructured computational grid) correspond to the model parameters of the coupled hydrodynamic telemac tomawac model used in EasyGSH to validate product results as part of a multi-model approach. The generated data are part of the seagoing analyses in EasyGSH-DB with the aim of creating application-oriented synoptic reference data on geomorphology, sedimentology and hydrodynamics in the German Bay for a referenceable, continuously processed basic data set of 20 years for Deutsche Bucht.
