Fish otter dead finds

— Dead otters have been registered continuously since 1985. — For the 818 to October 2011 dead otters, the following causes of death were identified: 663 x Road Traffic, 57 x Fishing (Downing in Reusen), 98 x Other or Unknown Causes. — Dead otters are continuously reported to the LUNG by the finders (a high “dark figure” of unreported animals is assumed). Only the otter dead finds reported in the LUNG with template were included in the database (the template is to be found at the end of the meta-documentation). A large part is handed over to the University of Rostock and other scientific institutions for further research. — The data were first based on the location of the templates on the basis of UEK 1: 250,000 digitised. For the most accurate localisation, the TK 1: 25,000 and TK 1: 10,000 used. The position accuracy of the points fluctuates (high accuracy, for example, for roads indicating a water bridge; low accuracy, for example, in larger lakes). Since 2005, digitalisation has regularly indicated the estimated accuracy of the finding point (attribute ¡deviation).
