Flight Noise — Settlement Restriction Area

With Senate Press Release No. 96/1261 of 23 September 1996, the Senate adopted regulations on settlement planning in the fluglärmbelasted area of Hamburg Airport. It defines two areas with different dimensions, in which different planning requirements for residential areas and similarly vulnerable uses in the air noise area are determined. The Senate resolution on the settlement restriction does not apply in the building permit procedure, but limits the possibilities for the designation of new residential areas. In settlement restriction area 1, existing residential areas under planning law can be secured in close orientation to the formative stock. In Area 2, residential areas secured by planning law can be moderately arronded.
