Dataset description
In the forest functions soil protection forest area is mapped which meet the criteria of the statutory soil protection forest according to § 30 LWaldG. The main criteria for the designation of soil protection forest are slope inclination and steady slip hazard. Soil protection forest protects its location as well as neighbouring areas from the effects of water and wind erosion, landslides, demolitions, creeps, rockfall, hauling, humus loss, soil compaction and wetting. A special form of the soil protection forest is the avalanche protection forest. It is intended to prevent or reduce the formation of avalanches and snow slides and to halt outgoing avalanches.
