Dataset description
The data set contains the forest seed harvesting herds and seed plantations in the Free State of Saxony. Seed harvesting stocks and seed plantations provide starting material for the production of forest reproductive material. Harvest stocks are forest stocks that are authorised under the Forest Propagation Goods Act (FoVG) for the extraction of forest reproductive material. These are forest stocks, with a demarcated population of trees, of a sufficiently uniform composition, which can also consist of neighbouring subpopulations. Seed plantations, which are also authorised under FoVG, are plantations of harvested clones or seedlings, which are managed with the aim of frequent and easily practicable seed harvests. The data is used for the forest function map 1:25,000 of Saxony. Further information can be found in the brochure on forest function mapping published by the state enterprise Sachsenforst.
